I’m glad I wrote my last FARC newsletter article about motivation. Today, me writing that article got me started and through my 20-mile long run.
I was expecting to be running in that rain. My alarm went off at 6 am. But, I didn’t get up until about 6:30.
I looked at the current weather, 64 degrees with a 62-degree dew point and rain. The radar showed the rain front moving out by 8 am. It was going to be a good day to run long.
I ran my usual Belmont Ferry Farm Trail, Falmouth Bridge, two times Heritage Loop, plus an out and back on the Belmont Ferry Farm Trail.
There was a little mist for the first 15 minutes and mud on the trail through Chatham. I wanted to take it easy and run the entire distance without bonking.
I wore shorts over compression shorts and my Saucony Endorphin Speed 2. I ran consistent with the four common splits on the Belmont Ferry Farm Trail between 29:57 and 31:35.
I did come back to my house to get a fresh bottle and easily left to do the last 5.5 miles. I made it to 17 miles in 3 hours.
It did start to get sunny toward the end of the run. But the temps stayed in the 60s. I’m looking forward to the coming fall weather.
I read on Facebook today that the Chatham Bridge is reopening on Oct 10. I’m looking forward to my return to Lee Drive on a long-run day.
