My Single Bottle Belt

Sharing is caring!

This is my single bottle belt. I bought it in 1995 to run the trails near Old Rag.

That year I ran the Deseret News Marathon that included 4500 feet of downhill running from the top of East Canyon pass to Liberty Park in Salt Lake City. I needed to practice running long descents, and the Virginia fire roads were the closest option.

I don’t remember ever throwing this belt in the washer. Over 26 years, the only cleaning was running in the rain. This belt has gotten me through many long runs and races.

After this past weekend’s 50km, I got a little rash around my waist from wet belt chaffing or some dirt. The rash has gone away.

Today, I put it through a soak and rinse cycle. Does it look any better?

The spin part of the wash did move all the padding from the middle to the left side. I had to work the padding back to the center. I’ll have to take it on a test run soon.

BTW, notice the width of the belt. I can cinch it around my waist, and it sits without bouncing in the small of my back.

My first part-time job was delivering the Deseret News in 1969. Running downhill that long is more challenging than you would expect. That was a 3:57:52 finish for me.
